Alaska is considered part of HOSA's western region due to its geographical location and the way HOSA regions are mapped out across the United States. HOSA organizes its membership into regions to facilitate networking, competition, and resource sharing among states that are in closer proximity to one another. The western region includes states along the Pacific coast and those farther inland, which encompasses Alaska as well.
